The film stars an ensemble cast, including Sanya Malhotra, Ashutosh Rana, Sheeba Chaddha, Sayani Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Natasha Rastogi, Rajesh Tailang, Shruti Sharma, Jameel Khan, Meghna Malik, Ananya Khare, Yamini Singh, Bhupesh Pandya, Chetan Sharma, Aasif Khan, Nakul Roshan Sahdev, Ashlesha Thakur, Sachin Chaudhary, and Saroj Singh.


The film sees Malhotra paper the part of a widow, attempting to mourn the death of her significant other. As the situation develops, Sandhya sets onto a way of self-discovery, attempting to find her identity and reason in life - this while experiencing in the midst of the quirky members from her joint family.

Directed and written by Umesh Bist, the film brags a troupe cast comprising veteran entertainers Sayani Gupta, Shruti Sharma, Ashutosh Rana, Raghubir Yadav, Sheeba Chaddha, Meghna Malik, and Rajesh Tailang. It is produced by Guneet Monga under her banner Sikhya Entertainment.



Talking about the film Bist said in a statement, "The story of Pagglait comes from a deeply personal experience and I trust the viewers would be able to relate to it. It's a straightforward story managing complex feelings of life and death, told through the novel focal point of a youthful widow who's encircled by a family that is anxious to settle on choices for her. Our skilled cast brings these nuanced moments of joy and happiness, confusion and chaos together. This film has been made with a ton of enthusiasm, love, and friendship and we trust viewers across the world would relate with this charming story of Sandhya."

Producers Said About Pagglait Movie


Producer Guneet Monga shares, "Pagglait is established in deep family ethos and captures Sandhya's inside journey. Actor Sanya Malhotra stars as the lead in the upcoming Netflix film Pagglait. The trailer was released on Tuesday 16 March and it teases a quirky self-discovery journey in the making. The trailer returns to the teaser, released on Sanya's birthday a month ago, reminding viewers that her character, Sandhya, can't mourn the untimely death of her husband.


While the family prepares for the last rites and other post-funeral ceremonies, life seems normal for Sandhya. Her friend rushes to be by her side, hoping to console the widow but Sandhya's attention was on the comments the social media post announcing her husband's death and a mouth-watering serving of paani puri. Life takes a turn when a life insurance agent walks into the house and reveals that her husband has left behind ₹50 lakhs under his wife's name.

As the family contemplates what to do next, scheming ways to keep their son's money within the family, Sandhya seems to have other plans. The youngster, caught between the tug-of-war at home, wants to live her life, explore the world and through the process, find herself. "Jab ladki logo ko akal aati hai..log unhe pagglait hi kahte hai (when women gain sense, they are called mad)," Sandhya says at one point of the trailer.


Talking about the movie, Sanya previously said, “So thrilled to announce this film which is very close to my heart on my special day. I essay the role of Sandhya, a character very different from what I have previously portrayed on-screen. My Pagglait journey was Pagglait indeed- and I can’t wait for the world to witness this unique story very soon.”

Actress Sanya Malhotra shot to fame with the film Dangal. After that, she shined in movies like Badhaai Ho, Shakuntala Devi, and Ludo. Now, she is back with a female-oriented film called Pagglait. The trailer of this Netflix original film was dropped about a while ago.

Going by the trailer, Pagglait looks like a comedy caper filled with good human emotions. The film revolves around the life of Sandhya whose husband dies within five months of their marriage. However, Sandhya seems to be unaffected by his demise and acts normal. The rest of the story follows her journey of dealing with family issues.

It looks like the director Umesh Bhist handled a serious issue with good sensible humor. Pagglait is being produced by Shoba Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, Guneet Monga, and Achit Jain. Shruti Sharma, Sayani Gupta, Ashutosh Rana, and Raghubir Yadav played the other pivotal roles in the movie. Pagglait will premiere on Netflix on March 26.
